Expo West 2019

Expo West is THE best convention to attend if you are connected to the organic and natural food industry. They call it the Super Bowl of natural food shows. Every year, the show grows larger! That is crazy to even imagine because the show already takes over the vicinity of the Anaheim Convention Center, Anaheim Marriott, Hilton Anaheim, and the Anaheim Arena. So in other words, Expo West takes over half of the city of Anaheim, California. But, that is great news because that means that the industry is growing. This year, I found so many amazing new products at the show!

Expo-west

These were the top trends at Expo West 2019:

  1. Keto Products
  2. Oat Milk
  3. Plant Based Products
  4. Cauliflower Pizza

1.Keto Products

The Ketogenic (Keto) diet has skyrocketed in the past few years. The Keto diet is a high-fat and low- carb diet. At Expo West, there were many new Keto Products. Those products included Keto ice cream, Keto pancakes, Keto chocolate, Keto bars, Keto muffins, and so much more.

2. Oat Milk

Move over almond milk, oat milk is moving in and taking your place. Oat milk is officially the new almond milk. At Expo West, there were several oat milk based products. Many companies sampled their oat milks. The new trend is oat milk ice cream, which was delicious and creamy. Oat milk is smoother and creamier than almond milk and it doesn’t have the slight nutty flavor like most nut milks do.

So Delicious Peanut Butter and Raspberry Oatmilk ice cream.

3. Plant Based Products

Every year more and more plant based products come to market. This year was no different. The products were also top notch. There was plant-based ice cream, burgers, pasta, health bars, milk, and so much more. The big trend at Expo West 2019 was plant-based tuna.

Plant-based Tuna called Tuno .

4. Cauliflower Pizza

As the saying goes “If cauliflower can somehow become pizza, you, my friend, can do anything.” Cauliflower Pizza crust is THE new trend. It is made entirely out of cauliflower and very few other ingredients. It is gluten free, grain free, and low carb. It is very delicious too! Cauliflower pizza is a great alternative for those of you that are gluten free, following the Paleo or Keto diet, or want to consume less carbs.

Below are some of the unique products I found at the show:

As always, I had such a fantastic time at Expo West. I love catching up with my friends in the industry and I love meeting new ones. I found so many amazing new products that are coming to market soon. I can’t believe this was my 6th year attending Expo West. I am so thankful to have had the opportunity to attend this show for the past 6 years and to witness the growth of the natural and organic industry. I can’t wait for Expo East in September!!

Love,

Spread The Love

Spread the love! A phrase we must all live by everyday. But in this case, it is the name of a new organic peanut butter and natural almond butter company. Spread The Love was started in the kitchen of the owners as a favor to give out to their guests at their wedding. Little did they know that their simple nut butter party favors would turn into a business.

First off, it’s no wonder that these nut butters were a hit at their wedding because they are delicious! It’s crazy because the only ingredient is nuts. Most nut butters even when they are organic contain added oils, salt, and sugar. These contain one ingredient only. Also, the jars and lids are BPA free. The nut butters are made in small batches which makes them taste amazing and you can feel the love in every jar.  Now that’s something to spread the love about.

     Organic Peanut Butter

The peanut butter is super delicious. It is certified organic, kosher, vegan, and gluten free. This peanut butter is very creamy with a smooth consistency. It is sweet but only contains 1 gram of naturally occurring sugar from the peanuts. The best part is you can taste the fresh peanuts. You get a homemade taste in every jar.

    Natural Almond Butter

The almond butter is also quite tasty. It is all natural, non-GMO, vegan, and gluten free. It is also creamy and smooth. This almond butter isn’t too sweet but it is just right. I love that the only ingredient is almonds. The taste of almonds is very subtle which is perfect for a great tasting almond butter.

You can use Spread The Love on toast, bagels, waffles, oatmeal, fruits, in smoothies, on ice cream, or you can eat it straight out of the jar. The possibilities are endless when enjoying Spread The Love.

For more information on where you can purchase Spread The Love please check out their website https://www.spreadthelovefoods.com.

I’m bananas for Banana Wave! Move over almond, coconut, and cashew milk, because BananaMilk is taking the dairy free alternative milk by storm. It is one of the newest dairy free alternative milks made entirely from bananas and other superfood ingredients.

Have you ever wanted to drink a creamy and delicious banana but without the cream and all the taste? Well now you don’t have to worry, because Banana Wave has arrived.

Banana Wave was created from grandma’s ancient African recipe that has been passed down through many generations. It is the first dairy free milk on the market made from bananas and other superfood ingredients. It is vegan, kosher, nut free, gluten free, and dairy free. It contains plant based protein, omega 3’s, vitamins, and minerals. It doesn’t contain artificial flavors, colors, or preservations. It is also Non-GMO.

When you open up a box, you get a heavenly scent of bananas. Let me tell you, the taste is just as heavenly as it smells! It tastes like a banana milkshake or melted banana ice cream. It is so unbelievable that there is no dairy in this milk. You can enjoy BananaMilk by the glass, in cereal, in smoothies, in alcoholic beverages, in coffee or tea, and in many recipes that require dairy milk. Banana Wave is by far the only dairy free milk that is delicious to drink on its own. If you are as bananas as I am, you too will enjoy this delicious BananaMilk!

You can find Banana Wave at Whole Foods Market, Tunie’s, Safeway, Walmart, and more. To find a location near you please click on the link, https://www.bananawave.com/where-to-buy/ . For more information, please check out their website, https://www.bananawave.com .

Expo West 2017

Expo West 2017 has been the best Expo I have ever attended. This was my 4th year attending and it was amazing. There were about 85,000 attendees this year. Saying the show was huge is an understatement. This year there were booths in the Hilton, the Marriott, 3 floors of the Anaheim Convention Center, and the Anaheim Arena. I normally can do the show in 2 days but this year I attended all 3 days. There were so many new organic and natural products that I can’t wait to share with all of you. It is an exciting time for the natural and organic industry. Just by the growing amount of booths and attendees, the organic and natural industry is growing tremendously!

Just a reminder for those of you who are unfamiliar, the Natural Products Expo is where companies from all sectors of the organic/natural industry demo their products for distributors, food brokers, retailers, consultants, health professionals, press members, and bloggers. It is THE show to attend if you have a natural and organic product that you want to demo or if you are on the other side and are looking for products or suppliers.

Trends This Year

  1. Plant Based Milk
  2. Paleo and Ketogenic diet products
  3. More Vegan products
  4. High Protein snacks and desserts
  5. Nitrogen infused cold brew coffee

I love making my own Stonyfield smoothie by biking and sweating for it. It makes it all the more worth it! And it is delicious too.
Getting to bring my Organic Response Vehicle all the way from Florida was the highlight of the show. Glad I got to take a picture of it outside of the convention center.
When the Rum is gone, drink organic Vodka. Drake’s Organic Vodka
It’s not everyday you get picked up by a banana! This is THE best Banana Milk created by Banana Wave
Getting to meet Cee Lo Green was awesome!

Look what’s coming soon, a natural Non-GMO version of Pringles! And they taste just the same!!!!

The new flavors of Arctic Zero are delicious!

I left my mark on the Stonyfield cow.

I had such a wonderful time this year at Expo West! Getting to try new products and meeting the amazing people behind them is the highlight of attending Expo West every year. Look out for full blog posts on the new products I discovered at Expo West coming soon. I can’t wait until Expo West 2018!

Veggemo

“The First Non-Dairy Beverage to Originate from Veggies”

Veggemo is a new non-dairy milk product that is made from vegetables. Non-dairy milks like soy, almond, and coconut are dominating the shelves these days so the producers of Veggemo wanted to do something different. They are the first in the non-dairy category to make alternative milk strictly out of vegetables. If you are allergic to dairy, soy, gluten and mainly nuts then this is the product for you!

Veggemo is made from a proprietary blend of tapioca starch, potato starch, pea protein, and enzymes. It also contains fortified vitamins like vitamin D, calcium, and B12. The tapioca and potato are what give the milk the smooth and creamy taste while the pea protein is what provides the nutrition and flavor. The flavors include unsweetened, vanilla, and original. Veggemo is dairy free, gluten free, nut free, soy free, cholesterol free, NON-GMO, vegan, and kosher. It is made with some organic ingredients but it is currently not 100 percent organic. Veggemo tastes great in cereal, on its own, in smoothies, and in many of your favorite recipes.

  • Unsweetened– it is very smooth, not sweet and has a hint of a nut taste.
  • Vanilla– The vanilla is smooth with a subtle taste of vanilla and it is the perfect amount of sweet.
  • Original– the original is very smooth with the perfect amount of sweet.

Overall, my favorite is the vanilla. They all have a smooth and creamy taste with a slight nut flavor, but of course it does not contain any nuts. The vanilla and original are not overbearingly sweet which is wonderful. Also, they don’t leave you with an aftertaste like most nut milks do. Even though Veggemo is marketed as a veggie based milk, it does not taste like veggies at all.

I found Veggemo at the Natural Products Expo West and it caught my eye because of how original it is, with a taste to match. Currently, Veggemo is in stores all over Canada but will be available in stores in the United States very soon. So make sure you keep a lookout for Veggemo in a store near you and try this unique new non-dairy beverage made from veggies.

I just got back from the Natural Products Expo West that was held in Anaheim, California. It took place last weekend at the Anaheim Convention Center. This was my third time attending the convention and I had so much fun. Even within the 3 times that I have attended, the show has grown so much. The Natural Products Expo is where companies from all sectors of the organic/natural industry demo their products for distributors, food brokers, retailers, consultants, health professionals, press members, and bloggers. It is so great coming back each year and connecting with organic companies and keeping informed about the industry. With how huge the show was, it just goes to show you how much the organic industry has grown with no signs of slowing down. The best part about attending the show is surrounding myself with like-minded people and professionals who share the same passion as I do. Also, getting to try all the new organic products is always a treat. Expo West never disappoints!

Here are some pictures of the products and booths from the show.

A video of me biking and making a Stonyfield organic smoothie at the same time.

Lookout soon for new posts on new products! See you next year Expo West!

Paleo Scavenger Handcrafted Snacks

For those of you on the Paleo diet, finding tasty on-the-go snacks can be a difficult task. Traditional granolas are made with loads of sugar, soy, wheat, and genetically modified oils that turn this healthy snack into a diet disaster. Unlike traditional granolas, Paleo Scavenger does not contain grains, dairy, soy, artificial flavors, or refined sugars.

The Paleo diet is a way of eating of the early humans in the Paleolithic era. In that era, they mainly ate meats, nuts, fruits, vegetables and nothing processed. The Paleo diet today is also based on the same principles, which is to eat unprocessed, whole foods that are filled with nutrients.

Paleo Scavenger is a handcrafted granola made in small batches in Chicago, Illinois. I found this amazing product as I was walking through the Next Pavillon at the Natural Products Expo East. There are four different flavor granolas. These flavors include Original, Maple Pecan, Blueberry, and Cherry. The best part about Paleo Scavenger granolas is that they are all super smooth and soft so you won’t have to worry about pulling any teeth out like some granolas. Each granola has a basis of this coconut almond flavor that is not overpowering and it just melts in your mouth. You can taste every ingredient in the granolas without any one being more overpowering. The reason that Paleo Scavenger is one of the most delicious Paleo granolas on the market is because of the ingredients they use which is the most important of any great product. Just to name a few, they use almonds, walnuts, coconut, honey, vanilla, cherries, blueberries, and pecans. As you can see, these are all whole ingredients. It is sweetened with either honey or maple syrup and has a very low sugar content which is hard to find in traditional granolas. You can be assured you are getting a tasty Paleo snack with benefits when you try any Paleo Scavenger granolas.

Original

The original is a delicious and smooth taste of nuts, coconut and a hint of vanilla without any flavor overpowering the other.

paleo-scavenger-original

Blueberry

The blueberry granola tastes a lot like a blueberry muffin because of the small dried blueberries throughout the mix. It also is sweet like a blueberry muffin but it doesn’t contain any refined sugar.

paleo-scavenger-blueberry

Maple Pecan

The maple pecan is everything you could possibly dream of. It has the taste of candied pecans without there even being any sign of sugar which is amazing! If you love anything with maple and pecan together you will love this delicious combo.

Paleo-Scavenger-maple-pecan

Cherry

The basis of the cherry granola is a little bit sweeter than the other flavors, but it does not have any added sugar. It contains large dried cherries throughout the granola which gives it a great cherry nut taste.

Paleo-Scavenger-Cherry-2

My favorite is the maple pecan because I love that flavor mix. Each flavor has a wonderful base of nuts and coconut that is just so smooth. This is what makes this granola one of the best granolas on the market.

You can add Paleo Scavenger granola to your favorite recipes. You can eat it straight from the bag, in a bowl with non-dairy milks, as a topping for sweet potato casserole, and so much more.

Natural Products Expo East 2015

This was my second time attending Natural Products Expo East in Baltimore and I had a wonderful time! For those of you who may not know, the Natural Products Expo is a large convention that happens in September on the East Coast in Baltimore, Maryland and in March on the West Coast in Anaheim, California. The purpose of the convention is for vendors in all sectors of the organic and natural industry to demo their products for retailers, distributors, food brokers, health professionals, consultants, press members, and bloggers. Every time I go, I look forward to finding new organic/natural products and meeting the owners of the companies. I love keeping informed and updated on all of the trends happening in the natural product industry. My favorite booths to visit are in the NEXT Pavilion which contains all the unique products. I love surrounding myself with like-minded professionals who are passionate about the organic industry. It is also fun to come home with samples and bags from the show which is a great way to remember all of the products. This is one of my favorite shows to attend and immerse in all things organic! I can’t wait for Natural Products Expo West in March!

I will be sharing featured products from the show on my website soon!
