“Good Food Is Not A Luxury, It’s A Right”

“Good Food Is Not A Luxury, It’s A Right”

“Good food is not a luxury, it’s a right.” This quote right here is everything I stand for. A couple of months ago, I wrote a blog post called “Make America Organic Again“, where I touched on the topic that organic food is a right. This week I went to the new Lucky’s Market that just opened up in Plantation, Florida ( a suburb of Fort Lauderdale). As I walked up to the cash register, I saw this huge quote hung up on the wall. It said “Good food is not a luxury, it’s a right.” I saw it and I immediately took a picture of it. The meaning of that quote is something that I strongly believe in.

Candy Corn Milkshake

CANDY CORN MILKSHAKE

candy-corn-milkshake-name

What is the most traditional Halloween candy you could possibly think of? CANDY CORN! Candy corn is delicious and nostalgic. Traditional candy corn is made with artificial colors and flavors. Sweet’s Candy Company created a natural candy corn. It is made with non-GMO ingredients, no artificial colors, and it is gluten free. The original candy corn is layered with white, orange, and yellow colors. This brand contains a full color on each piece. The colors are made with fruit and vegetable extracts like pumpkin, carrot, and apple. They smell like marshmallows with a hint of orange and lemon. They are delicious! I wanted to make a candy corn milkshake because 1. I love milkshakes! And 2. Because I love candy corn! . This candy corn milkshake is so easy to make! You can make candy corn milkshakes for Halloween and serve them at your parties.

You can find Green&Black’s chocolate bars at Whole Foods Market and most natural markets.

Glazed Chocolate Dough Balls

FEEL GOOD DOUGH™ GLAZED CHOCOLATE DOUGH BALLS

Feel-Good-Dough-chocolate-balls

Glazed Chocolate Dough Balls is an easy to make recipe using Feel Good Dough’s™ chocolate dough. On Tuesday, I posted a new product review on Feel Good Dough. It is a new organic ready to bake dough product. This recipe is so easy to make and contains very few ingredients. What I like about the chocolate dough is that it isn’t too sweet. Organic sugar is the fourth ingredient in the chocolate dough. That in itself is something to “feel good” about. The glaze adds a little touch of sweetness to the glazed chocolate dough balls. I also added mini chocolate chips and sprinkles for a fun and easy to make dessert. What I love the most is that the dough is ready to bake. The dough is usually the hardest part of any recipe that requires dough. And, the cook and prep time is only about twenty minutes. That is what makes this recipe so easy and quick to make. Feel Good Dough is also 100 percent certified organic.

FEEL GOOD DOUGH

FEEL GOOD DOUGH

Feel Good Dough is the first and only all organic ready to bake dough brand.

Do you know what the hardest and most frustrating part of making anything that requires dough is? Well, it is the actual dough making!!! If you don’t have the right recipe, time it long enough, or if you live in a humid part of the country, your dough falls flat and is unusable. All you are left with is a loopy pile of stretchy unusable dough. Well you can fear no more because Feel Good Dough is the answer to all of your frustrating and timely dough making.

The best part is that Feel Good Dough uses all certified organic and high quality ingredients. Even down to the yeast, which Feel Good Dough is the first brand to use 100 percent organic yeast that is made in America. Feel Good Dough is committed to being 100 percent organic. There are very few ingredients in their dough products. That is for sure something to “feel good” about. It is also vegan, non-GMO, and some of their products are kosher certified. It is everything you ever hoped and dreamed for in a dough product. Haven’t you ever heard the secret to a recipe is all in the dough?

Cascadian Farm

Cascadian Farm

cascadian-farm-outdoor-stand

Last week I was in Seattle, Washington. Seattle is one of the top 10 most organic cities in the United States. Since I knew that beforehand, I was so excited to visit new organic places. Even though I had a list already of the places I wanted to visit, I forgot that Cascadian Farm was out of Washington. I think the reason I forgot was because they are not actually in Seattle. One of the days on my trip, we took a drive to Diablo Lake, which is a beautiful mountainous area famous for its’ turquoise colored lake. On the way, we passed by this little house situated on beautiful land with the sign of Cascadian Farm Organic. I was so excited to have seen it and I even think I was screaming a bit from the excitement. I must have been so annoying but that’s what finding organic places does to me. We made a u-turn since it was on the left side of the road and we went to the farm.

Make America Organic Again

MAKE AMERICA ORGANIC AGAIN!

MAKE-AMERICA-ORGANIC-AGAIN-SYMBOL

2016, the year of desperate need for many changes! But the one that must change is, it is time to MAKE AMERICA ORGANIC AGAIN!

Just 70 years ago, everything was organic here in America and it was just food. We didn’t have health food stores back then, we just had grocery stores. And not even huge grocery stores but local corner stores. You know, the places where you walked in and you knew the owners and the employees and they knew you and your family. What happened to that?

Without getting too controversial, we all know what happened.

Also, there were more farms back then that weren’t using harmful chemicals and pesticides. You knew the farmer and just exactly how your food was grown and raised. That has changed drastically with the existence of factory farms.

Back then, healthy food didn’t divide us from the wealthy and poor. It makes me sick to my stomach every time I hear someone say they can’t afford to buy organic food. Food is not a luxury and everyone deserves to eat food without GMO’s, chemicals, harmful substances, and pesticides regardless of one’s financial situation.

In the last 5 years, we have seen a remarkable demand for organic and local food. Not even just organic, but specifically a GMO free America. We want and so desperately need transparency in our food labeling. Just a side note, if it is labeled organic it does not contain any GMO’s. But even with the demand, organic food is still not accessible to lower income families and quite frankly most Americans are not educated on eating organic or anything that goes on in our food system. Most people still don’t know what a GMO is or even what gluten is. So, the demand is certainly there but the knowledge and accessabbility is not.

With that, it is tremendously important to make America organic again. Our society will benefit health and financial wise. “Where there is health, there is wealth.”

With this interesting election coming up in the next few months, changing the food system should certainly be the top priority of the Republican or Democrat Party. As Americans, we have the voice and power to change and revolutionize a broken and controversial food system.

NOW is the time to MAKE AMERICA ORGANIC AGAIN!

EQUAL EXCHANGE CAFE

EQUAL EXCHANGE CAFE

equal-exchange-cafe-full-inside

Last week, I was in Boston, Massachusetts for the day. As with every major city that I visit, I always search to see if there are any organic places in town. I saw that there was an Equal Exchange Café. For those of you who do not know, Equal Exchange is a Fair Trade, organic company that sells amazing chocolates, coffee, tea, hot cocoa, dried fruit, and nuts. You can buy their products in Whole Foods Market and at almost every natural/organic market. So when I saw that they had an actual café, I HAD to visit it since I never even knew they had a cafe. Even though I was only in Boston for about 8 hours, I found a way to stop by.
